Rolling
out the carpet
at Travessa Cassiano and Baixo Santa do Alto Gloria
This
Sunday, March 20th, kids from the community centered
around Travessa Cassiano and Rua Hermenegildo de Barros
got together in the Mestre Darcy do Jongo room to
put the final touches on the carpet will
be rolled out in the travessa (lane)
during the
Holy Week festivities.
The
initial idea was to make a special shroud,
allowing stamping images on the cloth. However, the
fabric provided by the producers was not suitable
for using this technique, so the project was modified.
It
only took a few moments for the kids to start painting
using rollers and their fingers. Our carpet is long
and will be displayed with pride this coming
Thursday (March, 24th).
BSAG
gives a heartfelt thanks to Sergio Cezar,
the “Architect of Cardboard”, as well
as to scene painter Theresa Zarvos de Medicis
and educators William Barbosa and Marcelo
Hosannah, who all helped transform this Sunday
into a real festival for the neighborhood children.
