The
history of Baixo SAG began when we were driving in
the neighborhood and noticed an old abandoned house.
Despite its state of disrepair, we were intrigued
by its original architecture and location, and decided
to buy the property and restore it with our own funds
and the help of some skilled and dedicated workmen.

Only the façade was still intact. The inside
had been divided into small rooms where various families
had lived before it was completely abandoned.
We documented the various stages of the restoration
work. It was not only an enlightening experience for
us, but also for the workmen, who were initially surprised
to see people like us investing in what many of them
(as with much of society) felt was useless junk, ready
for the wrecking ball. But as the house’s original
glory gradually emerged again, in harmony with its
surroundings, their pride in their craftsmanship grew
equally.

After restoring the big house, we began another project,
reconstruction of the property at number 69, also
on Rua Hermenegildo de Barros.
This was an even bigger challenge!
Today we are completing the work on the “69”
to receive visitors interested in sharing a stunning
view of Guanabara Bay!
We intend to receive people from all over Brazil and
the world!
