How to get there

There are two ways to get to the hostel - from below or from above:

From below the Glória subway station is conveniently located 10 minutes uphill on foot from the Hostel. The street is filled with trees so you will be protected from the sun if you enjoy walking. If you prefer you can take a taxi from Glória subway and will pay less than 2 US$ dollars to get to the Hostel or even take a motorcycle taxi for US$ 35 cents at the beginning of Cândido Mendes street.

Getting there from above is beautiful but it takes a little longer since you will have to take any Santa Teresa street car, the "Bondinho" from the City Centre behind the city Cathedral near Avenida Chile or Rua Senador Dantas across from Lapa directly to the Curvelo station where you will walk down a series of steps and have a first view of beautiful, historic and bucolic Travessa Cassiano. Notice the old lamps still used there making it into a gem in the middle of Santa Teresa district. At the bottom of Travessa Cassiano is Hostel 69.

If you take a taxi, just tell the driver to go to Glória´s: Rua Cândido Mendes which is a very famous street. Then take the first right and you will already be on Hermenegildo de Barros street a not so well known street.

+Ipanema: The beach of Ipanema can be reached in 40 min. By bus!
+Copacabana: 15 min. by subway from "Largo do Machado"
+Historic Santa Teresa: You´re there already.
+Lapa: A great place to go out from Thursdays to Sundays - 5 minutes on foot.
+Downtown Rio: 10 minutes on foot.
+Cathedral: 10 minutes on foot.
+Maracana-Soccer Stadium: 15 minutes by subway.
+Sambódromo (Samba Parade Locale): 15 Minutes by bus or about half an hour walking via Sta Teresa district.
+Parque das Ruínas visit: 3 minutes away in Santa Teresa.
+Chácara do Céu Museum: 3 minutes away in Santa Teresa.
+Beautiful Glória Church: You´re almost there already.
+All the great food, great shops and restaurants in Largo dos Guimarães in Santa Teresa: 5 minutes on foot, you´re almost there already.

Most of the buses which run through Glória district go past most interesting parts of Rio and the beaches and touristic sites if you prefer that to taking the subway.
